Alligators Keep Their Skins

photo from www.nytimes.com

Here is an article from The New York Times about alligator farms. Now you might be wondering why I would put this on a shopping blog and I do have a good reason, I promise! It discusses how farmers are being affected by the recession because people cannot afford to buy alligator skin products.

Click here if you are interested in reading. I thought that it was sort of a weird piece of news, but an interesting look on the material that makes some of the world's most expensive clothing and accessories. You see these pieces in the high end department stores, but when do you stop to consider how that product came about??

Comment below about the article!

  1. I am sorry about all the people losing jobs to the fall of alligator based products but I feel even worse for the poor animals who have been put through this. Therefore, I do not mind that the alligator farms are going down hill.

  2. Thanks for the input Mackenzie! Like I said in my post, this article really does remind people of where the materials for the products they love come from
