Retouch Regulations?

A photo of Kim Kardashian from the online version of Complex magazine in March 2009. The photo on the left was accidentally featured in the magazine, showing the cellulite on her thighs. Kim was ok with the picture, even though hours after posting it the magazine replaced the photo with the one on the right.

Here's another article that stuck out to me this week. In France, a member of parliament is trying to have a law passed that would require retouched photos to be labeled.

The article takes a look at the positive impact it would have on young women to know that the woman in the picture is not perfect. It also looks at the possibility that labeling a photo as retouched would infringe on the artistic components of the photo.

Read more here about the French propostion and here for the Kim Kardashian photo mix-up.

What do you think about the law?
Should something similiar be explored in the U.S.?
Does labeling a photo ruin the art?
Should Kim's photo have been replaced on the website?
